Wood chipping & fuel chips production
Wood chipping
Wood chips are produced by the Jenz HEM 561 DQ mobile chipper on a VOLVO FH 400 8×4 trailer. We chip round timber material, sawmills’ splintery scrap, scrub and logging waste. Chips are produced at the storage site of the raw material and are transferred directly into transport containers. Three different sizes can be produced thanks to the changeable sieves: sieves sized 0…30 mm, 0-60mm, 0…80mm. We buy wood chips in our terminals in Pärnu and Salacgriva, Latvia.
Fuel chips production
Producing fuel chips provides the forest owners with the opportunity to earn from the unused forest material left behind after logging. Saw material left in the forest is a fire hazard, but also complicates for up to 10 years after logging any works (planting and maintenance) and moving in the forest.
Producing fuel chips also helps to cut back forest regeneration costs. Treetops do not need to be lopped off while lopping and cutting the tree trunks. Tops can form a part of logging waste.
Logging waste could be collected from felling areas where it is not used for supporting the transport routes. Scrub and logging waste should be transported from the area after the forest material is carried out and it should be stored at the same storage place. Scrub waste must dry outside, for a minimum of two months. That is why it would be preferable to store the stacks in an open area. Storing on ditches and banks should be avoided as there the material does not dry enough and timber humidity and precipitation stays in the wood. This results in the material moulding and rotting, making it unusable.
When the material is stored at roadsides, care should be taken that there is enough room for a chipper and a chip transport vehicle next to it. In total the area should be around 6-7 meters wide (many chippers are fed from the side). Our chippers always have multiple wheel drives, suitable for various terrains, etc. Our trailers are mostly for asphalt covered surfaces.
